Candle Server Setup Instructions

This guide details the steps required to setup a Candle server on a local network.

Server Setup
1. Install the Candle server on the server computer. Download it from here https://olivetree.software/downloads
2. Find the server's IP address:
    - Click the Start button. Type cmd. When cmd appears, open it by clicking on it.
    - Type ipconfig into the command prompt and press enter.
    - In one of the sections displayed, find IPv4 Address. (pictured below) This number is the IP address of the server. You will need this for the next step.

Client Setup
Follow these steps on each additional computer that would like access to the server.
1. Open a web browser, such as Chrome or Edge. Type the IP address of the server into the address bar and hit enter. The Candle login screen should appear.

If you would like a shortcut to Candle, follow the steps below... (instructions for Microsoft Edge)
1. Click the three-dot menu in the upper right-hand corner.
2. Mouse over Apps, then click Install this site as an app

3. Enter your desired name for the shortcut and click Install.

4. Now, by searching for Candle in the Windows start menu, the Candle app should appear, as demonstrated. You can also pin the app to the start menu or taskbar for easier access. (also demonstrated)

Router Setup
When your computer connects to your network, the router automatically assigns the IP address to it. This can cause the server computer to receive a different IP address after a power outage or other restart. To keep this from happening, your network administrator should assign the server what is known as a static IP address. This will prevent the server's IP from changing.
